Dental Implant Placement Guidance — How to Use This Tool

This free online tool helps dentists, oral surgeons, and implantologists generate accurate, brand-specific drill sequences and surgical protocols for dental implant placement. Select your implant brand, implant line, diameter, length, and bone type — the tool instantly displays the correct drill sequence with RPM recommendations, torque guidance, and clinical notes.

Straumann Implant Protocols

Covers BL (Bone Level), BLT (Bone Level Tapered), and TL (Tissue Level) lines. Drill sequences adapted per bone type with cortical drill and tap for Type I dense bone, osteotome technique for Type IV soft bone.

Osstem Implant Drill Sequence

Uses the official Osstem 122 Taper Full Kit (Guide → F3.5 Yellow → F4.0 Green → F4.5 Blue → F5.0 Red → F5.5). TS IV line is strictly D4-only with placement speed ≤15 RPM — the tool enforces this restriction automatically.

Nobel Biocare Drill Protocol

Supports NobelActive and NobelReplace Tapered lines. Uses Nobel Biocare Twist Step Drills (dual-diameter, DLC-coated black) based on the GMT72260 surgical manual medium-bone protocol. No profile drill in the NobelActive system.

Bone Type Adaptation (D1–D4)

For Type I (dense cortical) bone: a cortical drill is inserted before the final drill and a bone tap is added to reduce insertion torque and prevent fracture. For Type IV (soft/sinus) bone: the final drill is skipped and an osteotome is used to compress bone and maximise primary stability.

No Patient Data Stored

This is a stateless clinical decision support tool. No patient information is saved — not to any patient record, not to a database, not to a server. Everything runs in your browser. Safe to use chairside during surgery.

Free, No Login Required

The implant guidance tool is completely free and requires no account or login. Bookmark it and access it from any device — desktop, tablet, or mobile — during implant planning or in the operating room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which implant brands are supported?

Currently Straumann (BL, BLT, TL), Osstem (TS III, TS IV), and Nobel Biocare (NobelActive, NobelReplace Tapered). More brands will be added based on demand.

How does bone type affect the drill sequence?

Type I (dense cortical) bone adds a cortical drill and a bone tap to the sequence. Type IV (soft/sinus) bone skips the final drill and substitutes an osteotome to compress soft bone and improve primary stability. Types II and III use the standard sequence.

Are these drill sequences based on official sources?

Osstem sequences are verified against the official 122 Taper Full Kit PDF from osstemuk.com. Straumann and Nobel Biocare sequences are derived from published surgical manuals. Always verify against the current surgical guide shipped with your implant kit before clinical use.

Can I use this on my phone or tablet in the operating room?

Yes. The tool is mobile-responsive and runs entirely in the browser. No internet connection is required once the page has loaded. Bookmark it for quick chairside or table-side reference during surgery.
